Nicholas Huxley is considered an influential figurehead in the Australian Fashion Industry. An ex student himself from 1976, he has been teaching at the Fashion Design Studio since 1979 and has been Head Teacher since 1990. With a vast array of design and industry experience he has been integral in shaping the college into what it is today. Nicholas has worked with many designers in his time and has been a driving force in their entry into the fashion industry. Having personally dressed actresses such as Nicole Kidman, he has been nominated for the prestigious Fashion Laureate Award for 4 years and previously named in the Sydney Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Sydney.
With an eye for colour and texture, qualifications in both fashion and textile design, Sophie brings a vast array of skills to the college. As a past graduate herself, she understands the needs of the students and is passionate about creating a dynamic learning environment. Before embarking on her educational career, Sophie spent time working with Signature Prints and was part of the team that brought the Florence Broadhurst Design Library to the Australian Fashion Industry. It is Sophie’s particular interest in textile and print design that has lead to the development of our highly regarded Design & Textile Printing courses. Working closely with our industry partners ensures that our courses retain both their relevancy and currency.
Andrea has extensive experience in both the Fashion Design Industry. With a background in design, she also works as a freelance stylist and costume designer. Having worked mostly in the music industry dressing the likes of Connie Mitchell from Sneaky Sound System, the Hilltops Hoods and Lisa Mitchell, she is most well known as the costume designer for flamboyant electro pop group Empire of the Sun. She has an eye for detail and brings a flexibility of design to her classes and works towards constantly improving and marketing The Fashion Design Studio.
